QVC Gemstone Quality Standards

QVC business ethics guidelines strictly prohibit purchasing or selling gemstone products that originate from a group or country that engages in or supports illegal, inhumane, or terrorist activities. QVC expects all vendors to comply with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations including the USA Patriot Act and the Kimberley Process.

Here at QVC we employ strict quality standards for selecting the gemstones we offer you. These standards put us in a different league, compared to other jewelry retailers.

We are committed to offering quality gemstones and quantities of gemstones that are representative of each gem's variety.

Every gemstone we offer must conform to a specific size, cutting style, shape, and quality.

Our gemstones must adhere to stringent appearance requirements:

• Gemstones are within approved color and quality ranges.
• Color, saturation, and clarity must be uniform throughout an individual gemstone.
• In a multi-stone item, gemstones of the same type must match in color, clarity, polish, and luster, unless otherwise specified.
• Any gemstone with a noticeable blemish, such as a chip, crack, or scratch, is unacceptable.
• Any gemstone with an internal or surface flaw that threatens the stone's structural integrity is unacceptable.
• The gemstone cut must be symmetrical and consistently proportionate.

A guaranteed minimum carat weight is set for each gemstone item. All pieces we sell must weigh at least the established minimum.

Jewelry vendors are required to accurately and completely identify all gemstones sold to QVC, providing the correct name and nature of the gemstone, any treatments applied, and all unusual features.

We accept only those gemstone treatments that provide a lasting benefit to you by enhancing the beauty, increasing the availability, or increasing the durability of the gemstones.

Each gemstone jewelry item must be accurately labeled with its country of origin, as determined by government and industry laws and regulations.

We strictly comply with U.S. laws and regulations regarding the labeling, marketing, and advertising of jewelry items.

We also support the Jewelers Vigilance Committee, a non-profit organization that monitors the retail jewelry trade and supports ethical marketing practices.

To enforce the above standards, we have a rigorous Quality Assurance program in place. QVC strictly enforces the quality standards that we have developed. These standards detail QVC gemstone quality requirements and the processes gemstones must undergo to ensure their quality consistently meets those standards.

Samples of every gemstone product must pass a preliminary evaluation to be considered by QVC. In this initial quality assurance procedure, two production samples of the gemstone item are examined to confirm the following:

• Our product specifications and quality requirements are met in terms of design and construction, durability, aesthetics, materials and workmanship, size, and weight.
• The product description is accurate and complete.
• The product is compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards..
• The vendor claims and documentation are substantiated.
• The quality of the product packaging is adequate for shipping.

A Finished Product Audit is performed. In this final quality assurance procedure, QVC randomly examines items in the shipment to:

• Verify the overall quality of the entire shipment.
• Reconfirm the product satisfies all the preliminary evaluation requirements.
• Determine the product is worthy of on-air presentation.
